Take a remarkable journey on the trail of childhood and the young years of Karol Wojtyła, the future Pope John Paul II. In Wadowice, we will visit the most important places connected with the life of the Pope – the house of his birth, converted to the John Paul II museum, parish church with the baptismal font in which he was baptized and walk through the streets where young Karol used to go. We will also stop to taste the legendary papal cream cakes- kremówki the favorite treats of John Paul II, for which he longed throughout all the years of his pontificate. We will bring the Pope’s silhouette closer, through people, places and events that shaped his childhood. You will find out why the election of the Polish Pope was so important to contemporary Europe and how much it influenced the course of recent history.
After visiting Wadowice, we will move to the nearby Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, one of the most important pilgrimage points in the country. We will see the entire monastery complex, which was the only Calvary in the world inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Built in the style of Mannerism, it combines with a pilgrimage park, gardens and historic buildings. We will visit the unusual interiors of the church, monastery and basilica, with richly encrusted furnishings and numerous sculptural and painting works
